Environmental Policy

Carbon uses reclaimed wood to produce internal furnishings that are treated with environmentally friendly sensitive products whenever possible; these treatments include natural waxes and water based paints which have either zero or low volatile organic compound content. They also allow our customers to furnish their homes with environmentally friendly furnishings.

Our objectives

To help reduce the waste generated during the production process of our products Carbon has developed an environmental policy. This policy commits us to continual improvement in terms of reducing our environmental impact. To help measure these improvements an annual benchmarking exercise is conducted. This exercise is used to measure our environmental impact against our previous years performance. In addition to these measures we also conduct a review of the environmental legislation that applies to our operation to ensure we comply with these regulations.

Targets

• To reduce the amount of Carbon Dioxide emissions associated with our delivery miles by 10% of that generated during 2004
• To reduce the Carbon Dioxide emissions associated with our use of electricity by 10% of that generated during 2004
• To reduce the volume of solvent based products used to treat our products by 50% of that used during 2004
• To reduce the volume of waste sent to land fill by 20% of that generated during 2004
• To improve our recycling rates by 20% of that achieved during 2004
